George Papandreou, Greece’s prime minister, reshuffled his cabinet on Tuesday but left the finance minister in place as the country braces for another austerity budget.
The reshuffle came 11 months after Mr Papandreou’s socialist party swept to power at general elections.
Opinion polls published last week showed around 60 per cent of Greeks wanted to see changes made in the government before local elections take place in November.
George Papaconstantinou, finance minister, kept his post, signalling that Greece is committed to further fiscal and structural reforms under its €110bn bail-out package by the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.
