Greek lawmakers approved a crucial austerity bill Thursday needed to tap a 110 billion euro bailout from other euro-zone countries and the International Monetary Fund, as major crowds gathered outside parliament to protest the measures.
The bill passed with a vote of 172-121 approving cuts that will slash pensions and civil servants' pay and further hike consumer taxes.
