One in Four Workers in Greece Are Uninsured, Imerisia Reports

Greece’s social security funds are missing out on more than 8 billion euros ($10.8 billion) in payments from uninsured workers, who account for 25 percent of the workforce, Imerisia reported, citing a study by IKA, Greece’s biggest fund.

More than 500,000 workers are uninsured with a 36 percent rate of non-insured in the northern region of Macedonia and a 26 percent rate in Athens and its regions, according to the Athens- based newspaper. IKA conducted a survey of 27,538 businesses, Imerisia said.
