As Greece stumbles its way through a protracted fiscal crisis and ever deeper into recession, many Greeks are searching for better opportunities overseas.
In the past few months, the number of Greeks enquiring about positions abroad, attending job fairs from foreign employers, or simply packing up and leaving, has increased. And many experts say the flow may soon turn into a flood as the harsh reality of the recession bites and unemployment continues to rise.
Greece, traditionally one of Europe's poorest countries, is no stranger to emigration. In the early part of the 20th century, hundreds of thousands of Greeks left for the U.S. and other countries in search of work. More recently, the 1950s and 1960s saw another wave of Greeks heading for opportunities in Germany, Australia, Canada and, again, the U.S.
